How to Change the Bank Account Your Stripe Payouts Go To

Your Stripe payouts go to the bank account saved in your own Stripe account, not in Argenta. To send your payouts to a different bank, change the bank account in your Stripe Dashboard. Nothing changes in Argenta: Argenta reads payouts from your Stripe account, so they keep coming in after the switch.

Only a Stripe user with the Owner or Administrator role on your Stripe account can add, edit, or remove a bank account.

Change your payout bank account

  1. Sign in to your Stripe Dashboard.
  2. Open Payout settings. If that link does not open the page, click Settings > Business > Bank accounts and currencies.
  3. Click Edit next to the bank account your payouts go to now.
  4. If Stripe asks you to verify your identity, request the verification email and click the Verify identity link in it. Open the link on the same device and browser you are using for Stripe.
  5. If Stripe asks for your current bank account details, enter them. Stripe uses them as a security check.
  6. Enter the routing number and account number of your new bank account. The name on the account must match your bank statement.
  7. Save the new bank account.

Before you switch

  • A payout that is already in transit when you make the change still goes to your old bank account. Keep the old account open until that payout arrives.
  • If a payout is sent to a bank account that has been closed, it comes back to your Stripe balance and is paid out again.
  • To remove your old bank account, add the new one first. Stripe needs an active bank account on file to send payouts and to cover refunds and disputes.
