How to Paste Text Without Formatting (Plain Text) in the Content Editor
When pasting from Word, websites, or other sources, you may want to remove the original formatting. Here's how:
Method 1 - Paste as Plain Text button:
- Copy your text from the source (Ctrl+C)
- Click the Paste as plain text button (clipboard icon) in the toolbar
- The text is pasted without any formatting
- Apply your own formatting as needed

The button reads your computer's clipboard, so the first time you use it your browser may ask for permission to see what you copied. Allow it, or the button does nothing. A picture, table or button you copied from inside the editor cannot be pasted as plain text; the editor tells you to use regular paste instead.
Method 2 - Keyboard shortcut:
- Press Ctrl+Shift+V (Cmd+Shift+V on a Mac; in Safari, Cmd+Option+Shift+V) to paste without formatting
Why paste as plain text:
- Removes unwanted fonts, colors, and sizes from the source
- Prevents messy HTML from being carried over
- Gives you a clean slate to format consistently
- Avoids compatibility issues, especially in emails
Tip: This is especially useful when copying from Microsoft Word, which often includes hidden formatting that can cause display issues.
