Donor Levels are an automatic classification that segments your donors by their lifetime giving. They help you identify, prioritize, and cultivate relationships with donors at different giving capacities.

The donor level tiers

Argenta uses eight tiers based on cumulative giving:

• Level A - less than $100
• Level B - $100 to $299
• Level C - $300 to $499
• Level D - $500 to $999
• Level E - $1,000 to $4,999
• Level F - $5,000 to $9,999
• Level G - $10,000 to $15,000
• Level H - over $15,000

How levels are calculated

Argenta adds up all of a donor's recorded donations to get their lifetime total, compares it against the tiers above, and assigns the matching level to the donor record, all automatically.

When levels update

A donor's level recalculates automatically whenever a donation is added, its amount is edited, it is deleted or moved to another donor, or it is copied. If you ever need every donor's level refreshed at once (for example after importing historical giving), contact our support team and we can run a full recalculation.

Where to see a donor's level

• Donor list - Fundraising > Donors shows each donor's current level.
• Donor Details - The Donor Metrics panel at the top shows Donor Level alongside Total Lifetime Contributions, Most Recent Contribution, and Highest Previous Contribution.
• Filter by level - Use the Donor Level filter on the Donor list to find everyone at a given tier.

Putting levels to work

• Prioritize outreach - Focus major-donor cultivation on Level E and above.
• Segment communications - Tailor messaging to giving capacity.
• Plan upgrade asks - Find donors just under the next threshold.
• Analyze your donor pyramid - Group by level to see your giving distribution.

Good to know

• Levels are based on lifetime totals, not annual giving.
• Third-party platform donations count when they are recorded properly.
• In-kind (non-cash) gifts are tracked separately and do not affect donor levels.
• Pledges do not count; only completed donations do.
