Argenta tracks grants in two directions, depending on whether the money is coming to you or going out from you. Both live under Grant Management in the menu.

Grants Receivable

Grants your organization receives from funders. Foundation grants, government grants, corporate grants, anything coming in.

You track the grantors who fund you and the applications you submit to them. Find it at Grant Management > Grants Receivable.

Grants Payable

Grants your organization gives out. Scholarships you award, community grants you distribute, pass-through funding.

Here the relationship is reversed: you track grant applicants who request money from you and the applications you receive. Find it at Grant Management > Grants Payable.

The Difference In One Line

• Receivable: you are the applicant. Grantors fund you.
• Payable: you are the funder. Applicants come to you.

Which One Do You Need?

• Most nonprofits use Grants Receivable to track the funding they are chasing and have won.
• Foundations and grantmaking organizations use Grants Payable to manage what they give away.
• Plenty of organizations use both, for instance a nonprofit that receives foundation funding and also awards scholarships.

They are separate areas with their own records, so using one does not clutter the other.
