How to Create a Project
Creating a project takes a minute. Argenta creates the record as soon as you click Add New, then opens it so you can fill in the details.
Create the project
- Choose Workflow & Productivity > Project Management.
- Click Add A New Project. The new project opens on its Project Details page.
- Fill in the six required fields, each marked with an orange asterisk:
- Project Title, up to 140 characters. A counter under the box shows how many you have left.
- Project's Current Status and Priority.
- Date Requested, Desired Due Date, and Actual Due Date.
- Click Save & Continue to keep working, or Save & Exit to close the record.
The rest of the details
- Project Manager: the person responsible, chosen from your team members.
- Project Group, Project Type, Project Category: three lists your organization sets up, used for sorting and filtering.
- Fiscal Year and Project Budget for the money side.
- Completion Date, Project Work Start Date, Projected Work End Date, and Projected Work Hours for the schedule.
- Chapter, Division, and Department where your organization uses them.
If the work is billable
There is no billable switch to turn on. A project becomes billable by filling in Associated Client/Customer and Client's Hourly Rate on Project Details. Billable Hours sits alongside them, with the total from the project's tasks shown underneath it so you can compare what was logged against what you are billing. When you are ready to bill, the Client/Customer Billing page of the workspace generates the invoice.
Copying an existing project
For work you run more than once, open a similar project and click Copy & Add New, or use the orange copy icon on the project list. You get a new project with the same setup instead of typing it all again.
