How do I organize Programs by Chapter, Division, or Department?

If your organization has multiple locations, branches, or departments, you can assign programs to organizational units for filtering and reporting.

Available Organizational Units

  • Chapter: Top-level organizational division, such as regional chapters
  • Division: Sub-unit within a chapter or organization
  • Department: Functional area or team
  • District: Geographic or political district
  • Precinct: Sub-unit within a district

District and Precinct only appear for political organizations, and you pick the District first because it determines which Precincts you can choose.

Assigning a Program to an Organizational Unit

  1. Open the program
  2. On Program Details, find the Chapter, Division, and Department dropdowns
  3. Select the ones that apply
  4. Click Save All Changes

Filtering Programs by Organizational Unit

  1. Go to Programs > Program List
  2. Open the Filter Programs panel
  3. Choose the Chapter, Division, Department, District, or Precinct you want
  4. Click Apply Filter

If you use the same filter often, save it with Save or Load a Filter and share it with your organization.

Seeing the Units on the List

Each program row shows its Chapter, Division, and Department when your organization uses them, and District and Precinct for political organizations. Sorting is by Program Name, Program ID, Start Date, or Budget, so use the filter rather than sorting to group by organizational unit.

Permission Implications

If your organization restricts access by organizational unit, people only see the programs in their own chapter, division, or department.

Best Practices

  • Establish naming conventions for organizational units
  • Assign programs consistently so reporting holds up
  • Save the filters your team uses most
  • Train staff on which units to select for their programs
