Argenta has three separate inventory buckets. The first, is product inventory for the products your organization sells.  The second, is a lending library for those items you lend to your constituents. And the third, is material inventory where you keep track of the material items that have been donated by your constituents. Your inventory items must be created first before you can itemize donations in the donation workspace.

To Manually Add A Material Items Into Inventory

To get started, choose either Donations and Grants > Material Inventory or Materials Management > Material Inventory - from the Argenta main menu on the left-hand side of the screen.



This will open the Materials Inventory screen where all your inventory items will be listed. From here, click the "Add New" button.


This will pop up the Add A New Donation Inventory Item window.



From here you need to fill in the details about your item. Let's take a look at each field in detail:
1. Item Category - Select a category from the drop-down list. Argenta comes loaded with material item categories you can use. If you want to add a new item category you can do so right here on this screen by clicking the "Add New" button next to the Item Category drop-down list.
2. Item Name - Enter a name for the item here. Keep the length to 140 characters or less. This field is required.
3. SKU or Reference Number - Enter a reference or SKU number for the item here.
4. Item Description - Enter a thorough description for your item here. This field is not required, but it is recommended.
5. Unit of Measure - Enter a unit of measure for your item(s)here. This field is required.
6. Approximate Value - Enter an approximate value for the item(s) here. This field is required.
7. Beginning Qty - Enter the quantity you would like to add to inventory here. This field is required.
Once all the details have been filled in, click the "Add This Donation Item" button.  This will return you to the Material Donations Inventory listing and add your items.
