Getting Started with Surveys

Surveys in Argenta let you hear directly from the people who matter most to your mission: your donors, volunteers, members, event guests, and more. You can build a branded survey in minutes, share it with a simple link, and watch the responses arrive in one place. There is nothing extra to install and no separate tool to learn. Surveys live right inside the Argenta software you already use every day.

Finding Surveys

Open Surveys from your main menu. The Surveys page lists every survey you have created. From here you can filter your surveys by status or category, sort them, and start a brand new one.

Creating a New Survey

Click New Survey. Every survey begins as a Draft, which means it stays completely hidden until you are ready. No one can find it or take it while it is a draft, so you have all the time you need to get it just right. You will land in the Survey Workspace, the home for everything about your survey.

The Survey Workspace

Across the top of the workspace you will find six sections:

  • Details – the settings for your survey
  • Description – an optional overview of what your survey is about
  • Welcome – a friendly message shown before someone begins
  • Thank You – a message shown after someone submits
  • Questions – where you build your survey
  • Results – where you review responses

Setting Up the Details

In the Details section you can shape how your survey behaves:

  • Survey Title gives your survey its name.
  • Status stays on Draft while you build, and changes when you are ready to go live.
  • Category helps you keep your surveys organized.
  • Open / Close Schedule lets you choose the dates your survey opens and closes. Leave it blank to keep your survey open for as long as you like.
  • Anonymous responses let people answer without recording who they are, which is wonderful for candid feedback.
  • Allow multiple responses per person lets the same person respond more than once.
  • Require sign-in to respond asks people to sign in when you need to know who answered.

You can also make every survey your own under Form Theme, where you set your Headline Color, Button Color, Button Hover Color, and Button Text Color so the survey matches your brand.

Adding Questions

Open the Questions section and click Add Question. You can choose from nine question types, so there is a perfect fit for whatever you want to ask:

  • Short Text for a quick word or two
  • Long Text for open comments and stories
  • Single Choice to pick one option
  • Multiple Choice to pick several
  • Dropdown for a tidy list of options
  • Rating Scale to measure satisfaction or agreement
  • Yes/No for a simple either-or
  • Date to collect a specific day
  • Number for amounts and counts

For each question you can write the Question Text, add optional Help Text as a hint underneath, mark it Required when an answer is a must, and toggle it Active to show or hide it. For text questions, you can also set a minimum and maximum length. Add as many questions as you need, mixing and matching types along the way.

Welcome, Thank You, and Description

The Welcome, Thank You, and Description sections let you add a personal touch with a full editor. You can format your text, add links, buttons, and images, and make your survey feel warm from the very first screen to the last. If you would like a hand with the wording, the built-in writing helper can polish your message in a Friendly, Formal, or Brief tone.

Publishing and Sharing

When your questions are ready, click Publish Survey. Publishing makes your survey live and gives you a link to share. Send that link out by email, post it on your website, or share it anywhere your community will see it.

Viewing Your Results

Open the Results section any time to see how your survey is doing at a glance: how many people have completed it, how many are still in progress, and every response gathered in one place.

A Few Friendly Tips

  • Build in Draft first, so you can review everything before anyone sees it.
  • Turn on anonymous responses when you want the most honest feedback.
  • Keep your survey short and focused. A few well-chosen questions usually bring the best response rate.
  • Use the Open / Close Schedule to open and close your survey automatically.

That is all there is to it. Surveys make it easy to listen to your community and act on what you hear, all inside Argenta.
