Where to find the merge tag button in the email editor

The merge tag button is located in the editor toolbar on the Email Template Workspace page. Here is exactly how to find it:

  1. Navigate to the Mail Room from the main menu
  2. Click Email Templates
  3. Open any email template
  4. Make sure you are on the Design tab (the Email Template Workspace)
  5. Look at the editor toolbar the merge tag button is the tags icon (it looks like a small label/tag symbol). It is located after the Insert Symbol button in the toolbar row.
  6. Click the tags icon to open the merge tag picker modal

What it looks like: The button shows a small tag icon. When you hover over it, the tooltip says "Insert Merge Tag."

Important: The merge tag button only appears in the editor on the Email Template Workspace. It does not appear on other editors throughout Argenta (such as notes, descriptions, or content editors) because merge tags are specifically designed for email personalization.

If you do not see the button: Make sure you are on the Email Template Workspace (Design tab) and not the Template Details page. The Details page manages settings like campaign assignment and organizational hierarchy the editor with the merge tag button is only on the Design tab.
