Yes! Merge tags work in both the email body and the subject line.
To use a merge tag in the subject line, simply type the tag directly into the Subject field on the Email Template Workspace. For example:
- [FirstName], thank you for your generous support!
- Your membership renewal is coming up on [RenewalDate]
- A special message from [OrganizationName]
Important notes:
- The merge tag picker button is only in the editor toolbar, not in the subject field. For the subject line, type the tag manually using square brackets and the exact tag name.
- Tags in the subject line are replaced at send time, just like tags in the body
- Using a recipient's first name in the subject line can significantly improve email open rates
- All 18 merge tags work in both the subject and body
