What Is a Fiscal Year?
A fiscal year is a 12-month period used for financial reporting that may not match the calendar year. Common fiscal years:
- July 1 - June 30 (common for educational organizations)
- October 1 - September 30 (common for government)
- January 1 - December 31 (calendar year)
Configuring Your Fiscal Year
- Go to Admin or System Settings
- Find Fiscal Year Settings
- Set your fiscal year start month
- Save the configuration
How Fiscal Year Affects Donations
When viewing donation reports:
- "Year-to-Date" reflects the current fiscal year
- Fiscal year totals appear on donor records
- Annual giving levels use fiscal year boundaries
- Year-end statements can be fiscal or calendar based
