The Activity Log in Argenta tracks every modification made to records in the system. This audit trail shows who changed what and when, providing accountability and the ability to troubleshoot issues.

What the Activity Log Tracks

The Activity Log records:

  • Record creations
  • Record modifications
  • Record deletions
  • Field-level changes (what was changed from and to)
  • User who made the change
  • Date and time of the change
  • Page where the change was made

Accessing the Activity Log

  1. Go to Argenta System & Data (or Admin area)
  2. Click on Activity Log
  3. Use filters to find specific changes

Filtering the Activity Log

You can filter by:

  • Date Range: Find changes within a specific period
  • User: See all changes made by a specific person
  • Record Type: Filter to constituents, donations, etc.
  • Record ID: Find all changes to a specific record

Viewing the Modification Log

For detailed field-level changes:

  1. Go to Argenta System & Data > Modification Log
  2. This shows specific before/after values for changed fields
  3. Useful for seeing exactly what was modified

Sign-In Log

The Sign-In Log tracks user access:

  1. Go to Argenta System & Data > Sign-In Log
  2. View all user login events
  3. See login times, IP addresses, and session details

Use Cases for the Activity Log

  • Troubleshooting: Find when data was incorrectly changed
  • Accountability: Track who made specific changes
  • Compliance: Provide audit trails for regulators
  • Training: Review what new users are doing
  • Recovery: Identify data that needs to be restored

Important Notes

  • Activity logs are retained for a set period (check your organization's settings)
  • Not all actions create log entries (viewing records typically does not)
  • Large exports may require contacting support
  • Access to logs may be restricted based on user permissions
