If you delete an email batch while emails are still being sent, it will stop any remaining emails from going out. Here is what you need to know about deleting email batches.
What Happens When You Delete an Email Batch
- Any emails that have already been sent will remain sent - they cannot be recalled
- Emails still in the queue waiting to be sent will NOT be sent
- The batch record will be removed from your Email Batches list
- Sent email logs will still exist in the email log for previously sent messages
How Email Sending Works in Argenta
When you send an email batch:
- Emails are queued in the Email Queue
- They are sent out in batches over time to avoid spam filters
- Large batches may take several minutes to hours to complete
- You can monitor progress in the Email Queue
Stopping an Email Batch in Progress
If you need to stop an email batch that is currently sending:
- Go to Communication > Email Batches
- Find the batch you want to stop
- Delete the batch
- This will prevent remaining unsent emails from being sent
Checking Email Status Before Deleting
- Go to Communication > Email Queue
- Look for emails associated with your batch
- Review which emails are still pending
- Emails already marked as "Sent" cannot be stopped
When to Delete an Email Batch
You might want to delete a batch if:
- You discovered an error in the email content
- You sent to the wrong recipient list
- The information is no longer relevant
- You need to make corrections and resend
Important Considerations
- Act quickly: The sooner you delete, the fewer emails go out
- Cannot undo sends: Already-sent emails cannot be recalled
- Log retention: Email logs are kept for historical reference even after batch deletion
- Recipient impact: Some recipients may have already received the email before deletion
Best Practices
- Always send a test email to yourself before sending to your full list
- Double-check recipient lists before sending
- Review email content carefully for errors
- Start with small batches for important campaigns
