How to Verify Your Email Domain for Better Deliverability

Email domain verification ensures that emails sent from Argenta on behalf of your organization are properly authenticated. This improves email deliverability and prevents your emails from being marked as spam.

Why Email Domain Verification Matters

  • Emails appear to come from your organization's domain (e.g., yourorg.org)
  • Reduces the chance of emails going to spam
  • Builds sender reputation
  • Required for automated emails like event confirmations and donation receipts to work properly

How to Verify Your Email Domain

  1. Go to My Organization > Organization Details
  2. Navigate to the Email Settings or Email Verification section
  3. Enter your organization's email domain (e.g., yourorg.org)
  4. Argenta will provide DNS records you need to add to your domain
  5. Add the provided DNS records to your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, etc.)
  6. Return to Argenta and click Verify Domain
  7. Verification may take up to 48 hours to complete

Verifying Individual Email Addresses

If you cannot verify your full domain, you can verify individual email addresses:

  1. Go to My Organization > Email Settings
  2. Enter the specific email address you want to verify
  3. Click Send Verification Email
  4. Check your inbox for the verification email from Argenta/AWS SES
  5. Click the verification link in the email

Common DNS Records Required

Argenta typically requires you to add:

  • DKIM Records: For email authentication
  • SPF Record: To authorize Argenta to send on your behalf
  • DMARC Record: Optional but recommended for security

Troubleshooting Email Deliverability

If emails are not being received after verification:

  • Check that all DNS records are correctly entered
  • Allow 24-48 hours for DNS propagation
  • Verify the recipient has not marked your emails as spam
  • Check the recipient's Do Not Email setting in their constituent record
  • Review the Email Queue for any errors

If you need assistance with DNS setup, submit a support ticket and the Argenta team can guide you through the process. Include your domain registrar name (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.) in your request.
