Argenta uses two different classification systems for auctions that serve different purposes.
Auction Types
Auction Types classify the auction event itself:
- Describes the overall format of the auction
- Set at the auction level
- Examples: Silent Auction, Live Auction, Online Auction, Hybrid Auction
Item Types
Item Types classify individual auction items:
- Describes what kind of item is being auctioned
- Set at the item level
- Examples: Experience, Gift Certificate, Physical Item, Service, Vacation Package
How They Work Together
A single auction (e.g., Annual Gala Silent Auction) can contain many items of different types (experiences, gift cards, artwork, etc.).
Item Categories
In addition to Item Types, you can also use Item Categories for more granular organization:
- Sports Memorabilia
- Dining Experiences
- Art and Collectibles
- Travel Packages
Customization
Both Auction Types and Item Types/Categories can be customized through Classification Codes to match your organization's needs.
