Nonprofit and political organizations often accept gifts of goods and materials, not just money. Argenta’s Material Donations area lets you record, track, and report on those in-kind gifts in one place.

To open it, from the left-hand menu on any screen select Materials Management > Material Donations. The Material Donations list loads with every material donation recorded for your organization.

See the total number of records and total value
Just above the list is a headline that shows how many material donations are currently displayed and their combined approximate value. When you filter or search the list, that headline updates to match what you are looking at, so it is a quick way to count or total a subset of your donations.

Search the list
Use the search box at the top of the page to find a donation by its donation ID or by the donor’s name. The list narrows as you type.

Filter the list
Click Filter Material Donations to open the filter panel, where you can narrow the list by donor, donor type and level, donation status, type, and category, the team member who received it, an associated campaign or event, your organizational groupings, and a donation date range. For the full walkthrough see the KB article Filter Material Donations.

Sort the list
Use the Sort by dropdown above the list to choose a field to sort on (such as donation date, donor, status, or team member), then use the arrow next to it to switch between ascending and descending order.

Export the list
Click the Export to CSV button to download the donations currently shown in the list as a CSV file, which you can open in Excel or another spreadsheet program. If you have filtered the list first, only the filtered results are exported.

Add a new material donation
Click the Add New button above the list. Argenta creates a new donation and opens its detail screen so you can fill in the donor, value, description, and other details. For step-by-step instructions see the KB article, Add Material Donations.

View or update a material donation
Check the box next to a donation in the list, then click the Open action to view or edit its details. For more see the KB article, View and/or Update Material Donations.

Delete a material donation
Check the box next to a donation, then click the Delete action. Confirm when prompted, and the donation is removed from the list. This cannot be undone.

Donation categories
Material donations can be organized by category. To learn how categories are set up and maintained, see the KB article, Working with Donation Categories.
