If your nonprofit accepts material donations, you can keep an inventory of these items in Argenta. Items in inventory can be categorized using Material Inventory Categories. Material Inventory Categories are considered a Classification Code. Argenta comes loaded with common Material Inventory Categories to help you get started, but you can change them at any time.
You can add or delete any Material Inventory Category by selecting Classification Codes from the Argenta main menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
This will bring you into the complete list of Customizable Classification Codes in Argenta. From here select "Material Inventory Categories" from the codes.
This will open the list of all your Material Inventory Categories. From here you will select the "Add New" button.
This will open the Add A New Material Item Inventory Category screen where you will enter the name of your new category.
Once a name has been entered select "Add This Classification Code" to add the new category and bring you back to your master list.
View The Total Number of Records
Above every list is a record number that displays the total of all items currently displayed in the list. This is a quick and easy way to count list items.
Search The List
All classification code lists can be searched by the code's title or a partial title. Enter the title of the code you are looking for into the search field to search the list.
Export The List To Excel
Argenta contains many reports, charts, graphs and statements, but it may be necessary to manipulate your own data. You can work with your data anyway you want by exporting it to Excel. Every list in Argenta has an "Export To Excel" button above the list. Clicking the button exports the data currently displayed in the list to Microsoft Excel. If you have filtered the data by specific criteria, only the result set will be exported.
To Remove A Material Inventory Category
In the item category list, click the corresponding "Delete" button to remove the item category from Argenta. Material inventory categories that are already in use cannot be deleted. You will receive an alert indicating that you cannot delete the category because it has been used to classify a material inventory item. If you still want to delete it you can find the item associated with it by filtering the material inventory item list, reclassifying all associated items, then trying again to delete the item category.
